Why Disney World Dexule Resorts Are Not All Equal!
If you're planning a Walt Disney World vacation, staying at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is an experience. This deluxe resort offers a lush, tropical retreat with direct access to some of the most magical moments Disney has to offer. However, the luxury and convenience come at a high cost. Let’s break down why it could be worth the splurge.
Room Accommodations & Location
The Polynesian Village Resort transports you to a Pacific Island paradise from the moment you arrive. The resort features newly refurbished rooms with beautiful Polynesian-inspired decor, complete with splashes of Disney charm. Options range from standard rooms that accommodate up to five guests to over-the-top Bora Bora Bungalows, offering a private plunge pool and stunning views of the Magic Kingdom.
Speaking of location, you’re just a short monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom, which is an unbeatable perk. You can also walk to the Transportation and Ticket Center to easily access Epcot. The resort's location on the Seven Seas Lagoon provides excellent transportation options, including a relaxing ferry ride to Magic Kingdom.
Dining & Nightlife: ‘Ohana, Kona Café, Trader Sam’s, and More
Polynesian Village Resort is a food lover's dream. One of the standout dining experiences is ‘Ohana, where you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat Hawaiian feast served family-style. Whether it's breakfast with Mickey and friends or a dinner of skewered meats and island-inspired sides, ‘Ohana never disappoints.
For a more casual meal, Kona Café serves up delicious dishes, including their famous Tonga Toast for breakfast. The laid-back atmosphere makes it a great stop for those looking to grab a quick bite before heading to the parks.
Craving a tiki drink? The resort is home to Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, an immersive tiki bar full of island-themed drinks and quirky surprises. This is a must-visit for adults looking for a fun escape. If you prefer something more relaxed, head to Tambu Lounge for tropical cocktails and small bites like the popular ‘Ohana bread pudding.
Nighttime Magic: Electrical Water Pageant and Fireworks on the Beach
One of the resort's most magical perks is the ability to watch Happily Ever After, Magic Kingdom’s nighttime fireworks show, right from the beach on the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon. You can skip the crowds at the park and enjoy the view with your toes in the sand. This is open to anyone not just hotel guests. Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World has the best fireworks shows ever. We are not experts but just based on our experience, of course. Watching Happily Ever After from the beach in a much more relaxed and chill environment was something special. They pipe in the music, and you can even see the castle and Tinker Bell flying from the beach in Polynesian. If you don’t have park tickets or are perhaps just a bit too tired from a full park day, watch the fireworks from the beach; you won’t regret it!
Adding to the nighttime experience, the Electrical Water Pageant is a charming, retro light parade on the water that passes by the Polynesian each evening. It’s a lovely bonus to cap off your night. The Mainstreet Electrical Parade maybe long gone or at least a bit dormant at the moment, but this was a small glimpse into that special parade. We have yet to experience the MSEP but perhaps one day we will.
Cost vs. Value
Yes, Polynesian Village Resort is one of Disney's most expensive accommodations, and it’s not uncommon for rooms to run upwards of $600 per night. For families looking for luxury, proximity to the Magic Kingdom, and easy access to exceptional dining, the cost can be justified. The unique amenities like the beachside fireworks views, transportation options, and a general sense of escape make it a standout choice.
However, if you're not planning to spend much time at the resort or primarily focused on park hopping, the price may be hard to justify. For those who want a full vacation experience beyond the theme parks, the Polynesian offers the perfect blend of relaxation and Disney magic.
