Planet Hollywood Las Vegas: Pros and Cons – Is It Still Worth Staying Here?
Planet Hollywood Las Vegas has long been considered one of the best moderate resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, affordable room rates, and proximity to entertainment, it’s often a top choice for visitors who want a memorable Vegas experience without breaking the bank. However, like many Vegas resorts, Planet Hollywood has undergone some major changes — and not all for the better.
In this post, we’ll break down the pros and cons of staying at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas, giving you a clear idea of whether or not this resort is still worth your time and money. Keep reading or check out our vlog for the visual version of this story!
✅ The Pros of Staying at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas
1. 📍 Prime Center-Strip Location
One of the biggest reasons travelers choose Planet Hollywood is its unbeatable location. Sitting right in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, you’re within walking distance to major resorts like:
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas (across the street)
Bellagio Resort & Casino (across the street)
Paris Las Vegas (next-door neighbor and a short walk)
Caesars Palace (just a block away)
This central location is perfect if you plan to explore multiple resorts, check out nearby shows, or soak in the energy of the Strip. It’s also an ideal spot for first-time Vegas visitors who want to see and do everything without relying heavily on rideshares or taxis.
2. 🍔 Affordable Dining Options (Especially in Miracle Mile Shops)
Another major draw of Planet Hollywood is the affordable dining. While many Vegas resorts are known for pricey gourmet restaurants, Planet Hollywood offers a refreshing break with budget-friendly meal options. Planet Hollywood is also building a new food hall called Miracle Eats, which has been delayed multiple times already but will serve affordable eats from some famous restaurants. We would list them here but we have concerns that this place will not open and if it does not every advertised restaurant will be present. Make sure to check out their website before visiting.
In addition to in-house dining options like:
Gordon Ramsay Burger – Celebrity chef spot for gourmet burgers and fries. These are very pricey, so be ready to fork over 25 to 35 dollars a burger. The burgers were delicious but we had major issues with them, check out our vlog for details.
Pin-Up Pizza – Giant New York-style pizza slices right off the casino floor. We tried pin-up pizza during our stay and found it to be a better option than secret pizza at Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
Cafe Hollywood – A casual cafe serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Open from 7 AM to 12 AM (or later, check times before visiting). Cafe Hollywood is what you would expect from a resort diner but the ambiance resembles the old Planet Hollywood resort, back when they actually had Hollywood in their resort.
You also have direct access to the Miracle Mile Shops, which offer over 15 different quick-service and affordable restaurants, including:
Ocean One Bar & Grille – $5 lunch entrees and $3 cocktails all day.
Blondies Sports Bar – Affordable bar food and drink specials.
Nacho Daddy – Famous for their massive nachos and scorpion shots.
Compared to other resorts with $20+ breakfasts and $100+ dinners, Planet Hollywood makes dining in Vegas far more affordable. Granted they have some fine dining or what you could consider fine dining like Strip House and Caramella. We dined at both and found Strip House to be the standout winner here. Check out our Caramella full review but for now let’s just say go there for the appetizers, sides and drinks.
3. 💸 Reasonable Room Rates Compared to Neighboring Resorts
One of the biggest selling points of Planet Hollywood is its room rates. If you're comparing it to nearby resorts like Cosmopolitan, Bellagio, or Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood consistently offers lower prices. Here’s a snapshot of the average nightly room rates based on our recent visit:
HotelAverage Nightly Rate (Weekday) Average Nightly Rate (Weekend)
Planet Hollywood $89 - $169$189 - $249
The Cosmopolitan$250 - $300+$400 - $500+
Bellagio$350 - $450+$500 - $700+
Paris Las Vegas$125 - $200$250 - $350
Caesars Palace$175 - $250$300 - $400
👉 Why does this matter? If you’re looking to stay on the Las Vegas Strip without breaking the bank, Planet Hollywood is one of the best options. You get easy access to prime entertainment and attractions without paying premium prices.
4. 🎤 Affordable Shows & Entertainment
Another major advantage of staying at Planet Hollywood is its affordable entertainment. While many Vegas shows can cost upwards of $150 per person, Planet Hollywood has reasonably priced options like:
Criss Angel MINDFREAK – Famous illusionist and magician (around $85-$100 per ticket).
PH Live Theater – Home to rotating concerts, comedy shows, and residencies.
V Theater (Miracle Mile Shops) – Affordable variety shows like The Mentalist and Zombie Burlesque.
Compared to the high-ticket prices at places like Wynn, Caesars Palace, or Resorts World, Planet Hollywood offers great entertainment at a fraction of the cost.
❌ The Cons of Staying at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas
1. 🏚 Aging Resort with Minimal Updates
One of the biggest cons of staying at Planet Hollywood is that the resort has begun to show its age. Originally opened in 2007, the property was designed with a Hollywood theme, but much of that has been stripped away.
The old Spice Market Buffet still sits empty and closed off.
Many retail spaces in the Miracle Mile Shops are vacant or transitioning.
Most of the decor feels dated and lacks the “glam” you’d expect from a Hollywood-themed resort. The lack of themeing or removal of theming from Planet Hollywood makes it feel like a shell of itself.
This leaves Planet Hollywood feeling somewhat generic compared to resorts like Cosmopolitan or Resorts World, which offer modern and luxurious experiences. If theming doesn’t matter to you then Planet Hollywood may still work for you. We enjoyed our stay, don’t get us wrong, but we remember when Planet Hollywood felt hip and relevant and during our stay it just felt more D-list than A-list.
2. 🌃 No Real Nightlife Scene Anymore
Another major downside of Planet Hollywood is the complete lack of nightlife. At one point, Planet Hollywood was a go-to spot for late-night parties, especially at:
Gallery Nightclub (now closed)
Koi Lounge (now closed)
Currently, there’s no major nightclub or late-night entertainment scene on the property, which is a huge disappointment if you’re looking for an exciting nightlife experience. Instead, you’ll have to walk next door to Cosmopolitan or across the street to Omnia Nightclub at Caesars Palace.
3. 🚧 Empty Spaces & Blocked-Off Areas
Walking through Planet Hollywood in 2025 feels eerily empty in some areas.
The old Spice Market Buffet has been closed for years.
Several retail spaces inside Miracle Mile Shops are completely vacant.
Some areas of the casino floor feel quiet and underwhelming.
This emptiness creates a less-than-vibrant atmosphere, especially during the daytime.
4. 🔊 Noise Factor – Street Performers and Late-Night Chaos
Because Planet Hollywood is in the center of the Strip, it comes with a lot of external noise.
Street performers blasting music right outside.
Noise from the Bellagio fountains and Strip traffic.
Heavy pedestrian foot traffic around the property.
If you’re a light sleeper or seeking peace and quiet, Planet Hollywood may not be the best choice.
💭 Final Verdict: Is Planet Hollywood Still Worth It?
So, is Planet Hollywood Las Vegas still worth staying at in 2025? The answer is: It depends.
✅ You should stay here if:
You’re traveling on a budget but want a prime Strip location.
You prioritize affordable dining, shows, and entertainment.
You don’t mind an aging hotel that lacks over-the-top luxury.
❌ You should avoid it if:
You’re looking for modern, upscale amenities.
